Funny how I got here. Checked crimes of honour in wikipedia, continued to link about death of Saudi princess and here I am, blogging myself. While reading about the death of the princess I realised how lucky I am. Free to chose who I will love, free to earn my own living and free to chose where I will live. It's amazing how I take for granted all those things. I am richer than a princes and I realise it only now. I could never understand attitude many muslim men have towards women.
Women are considered to be inferior to men, but when it comes to things like adultery or rape it's never man's fault. As if men are unable to control themselves when women are involved? I don't accept that. We all have free will to do right things - being men or women. It was allways fascinating to me - story goes Muhammad's first follower and supporter was his wife Khadija. She was first who heard about message from God and she was first to believe that Muhammad was prophet. She spent all her fortune on supporting him and followed him to exile where she died in terrible circumstances. His second fervent suporter was his daughter Fatima. She is also the one through whom his bloodline went on. They were both women. Were they week, feeble minded creatures? Not at all - quite the oposite if history is right.
It is also said that when Jesus was taken to the cross all his disciples (except John) run away and only women stood by him to the bitter end including his mother. I don't think women are weak when we fight for our children and when we love our men.
I wish all men were like they are supposed to be in fairy tales - just, strong, faithful, reliable, with great moral values and integrity. But every day I face the fact - men are only humans just like women are. I would love to have a man taking care of me all the time. Man I could trust 100% and allways could depend on him. But life teaches me differently. Divorces, cheating, domestic violence, child abuse ..... Everything tells me it's much better if woman can rely on herself. It's also better for her children. In ideal world I would marry my man and live happily ever after. He would treat me right, protect me, take care of me and never betray me or abuse me. Ah yes I forgot - he would never divorce me either.
I am aware of the fact that women are not ideal. Some cheat on their men, take advantage of their weakness and take them to the cleaners among other things. So it goes both ways. My personal decision: I am honest and trustworthy and will try to find somebody of my kind. But I will allways rely upon myself. I feel much safer that way. Yes, I am sceptic, life taught me to be. If you had patience to come this far in my blog I wish you a nice day.
